New Communications Director Announced

FORT WAYNE (11/16/2021). – The Allen County Department of Health is pleased to announce Matt LeBlanc will be assuming the duties of Communications Director, effective immediately.

Matt brings a strong communications and journalism background to his new position. He comes to the Allen County Department of Health from The Journal Gazette, where he covered a variety of topics including public health and courts. Most recently, Matt was an editorial writer.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri and a master’s degree in communication from Purdue University. Matt has worked for print and broadcast news outlets in Maine, Missouri, Iowa, South Carolina and Indiana, as well as in public relations for the University of Missouri School of Medicine.

As Communications Director, Matt should be the first contact for all questions or interview requests to the Allen County Department of Health. He also will arrange interviews with department personnel whenever possible.

Besides issuing press releases and coordinating and conducting media interviews, Matt’s duties will include serving as the Department’s Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Compliance Officer, maintaining and implementing the Department’s crisis communication plan, overseeing development of multiplatform educational initiatives and documents as well as assisting with content creation on the Department’s website and social media pages.
