Railroad Camp Cars

The Department of Health issues permits and conducts inspections of railroad camp cars to protect the health, safety, and welfare of persons temporarily housed in railroad mobile camps.

Railroad companies that house employees in a mobile camp must notify the Department of Health within two days of their arrival at a location in Allen County and request an inspection to ensure the camp cars are safe and sanitary. Camp cars are inspected in accordance with state law and the Allen County Camp Car Ordinance.
