School Outreach
Allen County is home to thousands of K-12 students, and we're dedicated to helping ensure each of them is healthy and able to learn.
The role of the School Liaison is to connect every school in Allen County with the services and resources of the Allen County Department of Health. Our trainings and program offerings are focused on prevention and raising awareness of health concerns in our community.
This partnership allows us to assist those working in schools with any health-related challenges they face, in order to ensure the best health outcomes for their students.
School Services
The School Liaison can help coordinate a wide range of services for Allen County schools. The services are free and can be adjusted to meet the specific needs of each school.
We now offer Stop the Bleed, American Heart Association CPR/AED, Catch My Breath and Safe Sitter courses to students and school staff. Those interested should contact the School Liaison for details about the courses and to schedule them at their schools.
Resources for Vape Education
In 2022, more than one in 10 high school students in Indiana - and one in 30 middle school students - reported current (past 30 days) use of tobacco products, according to the Indiana Department of Health's most recent Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey.
Vapes/e-cigarettes were the most commonly used tobacco product among Indiana youth, students reported.
To help schools and parents combat the problem, we have compiled resources filled with facts about vaping as well as tips and strategies for keeping students vape-free.
A multi-faceted approach is required to address vaping and tobacco use in schools.
There is no safe vape, especially for children.

Publications for Students
Here, you'll find interesting and useful information designed especially for Allen County students - such as the Restroom Reader, "Bringing you knowledge about your body and health, while you have a few moments all to yourself."
If you would like to use this resource in your school, we recommend posting it at urinals and on stall doors in student restrooms.
